Military Discharge

WHILE THE COURTHOUSE IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC, WE ARE  LIMITING OUR SERVICES TO ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.  PLEASE CONTACT THE COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE BY PHONE, (989) 224-5146 OR BY EMAIL AT clerk@clinton-county.org TO ALLOW US TO DETERMINE THE BEST METHOD TO ASSIST YOU.

THANK YOU

Filing Copies of Discharge Papers

Following discharge from the service, veterans should place a copy of their discharge (Form DD-214) on file with the County Clerk. By doing so, the County Clerk can produce certified copies, as outlined below.

Certified Copies

Pursuant to MCL 35.32, a military service discharge record is confidential and may be viewed or copied only by the veteran, a person with the veteran's written permission, or the surviving heirs of a veteran.

Veteran ID Cards

The Clerk's Office is currently not issuing Veteran ID Cards. More information regarding how to add your veteran designation on your Michigan driver's license can be found here.
