Doing Business Under Assumed Name

  • $16 New Assumed Name Certificate 
  • $14 Renewal of Assumed Name filed PRIOR to Expiration(Failure to renew Assumed Name prior to expiration will be treated as a new filing)
  •  $10 Certificate of Discontinuance of Assumed Name (If no longer in business, complete this form and file with County Clerk)
  • $10 Assumed Name Change of Address or Legal Name Change of owner
  •  $2 Assumed Name Out of State Consent (Michigan law requires any owner(s) who is/are not a resident of Michigan to file an Irrevocable Consent when filing a DBA. To do so, complete the appropriate area on the Assumed Name Certificate) 
  •  Assumed Name Certificate is valid for 5 years.
  •  Assumed Name Certificate may be filed by person at the Clerk's Office or by mail. (If mailing, the form must be complete and signatures notarized)
  • ALL Assume Name forms MUST BE NOTARIZED. A $5 Notarization fee applies, if notarized in the County Clerk's Office.  All owners must sign in the presence of a Notary Public.
  • Payment - All forms of payment accepted; Cash; Check/Money Order payable to Clinton County Clerk; Credit/Debit Card (Additional fees apply for Credit/Debit Card transactions)
  • Certified Copies of Assumed Name Certificate - 2 Certified copies will be provided at time of filing; additional copies may be purchased for $1/copy at time of filing or $2/copy subsequent to filing.

Copartnership

  • $10 New Certificate of Copartnership

  • $10 Certificate of Discontinuance of Copartnership (If no longer in business, complete this form and file with the County Clerk) A Certificate of Discontinue requires signature of one of the partners in the presence of Notary Public.
  • $10 Copartnership Change of Address of Legal Name Change of Owner
  • ALL Copartnership forms MUST BE NOTARIZED. A $5 Notarization fee applies, if notarized in the County Clerk's Office. NOTE: A New or Renewal Certificate of Copartnership must be signed by all the partners, however only one of the partners MUST sign in the presence of a Notary Public.
  • Certificate of Copartnership is valid for 5 years.
  • Application for Copartnership may be filed in person at the Clerk's Office or by mail. (If mailing, the form must be complete, signed by all partners and the signature of one partner notarized)
