Courthouse COVID-19 Information:

NOTICE:  Please be advised that Clinton County is attempting to limit the amount of traffic in the Courthouse building. If your business matter can be conducted utilizing online services, we encourage you to do so. If you are unsure, please contact our office at (989) 224-5180 or email and we can help you make the determination. If your business will require you to appear in person, please limit the number of individuals to ONLY those necessary to accomplish the matter at hand.  Thank you. 

To accommodate the restrictions of the Governor’s Order, the Community Development Office has applied 2-month extensions at no cost to all permits expiring after March 1, 2020 and issued while the State of Michigan is under the Order.

On-Line Permits

You can now apply and pay on-line for your permits. Online Buildng permits are for roofing, siding, or windows only. (*If you apply for a Single Inspection Permit in error there is a non-refundable fee of $4.00) Also, single trade permits are allowable via online.

If you are a contractor, please use the links below.  You must create an account prior to being able to submit applications on-line.

Please Note: As of January 1, 2016, a Contractor Registration Application will be required prior to pulling any permits for any new licensees to Clinton County. The Contractor Registration Form is a $12.00 fee and will need to be notarized. There is a $3.00 fee to have the Building Department notarize your application. 


To schedule building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical or soil erosion inspections, you must give 24-hour notice by calling our inspection line and leave a message, at 989-224-5183.
