The Green
Space Commission would like to thank the Clinton County Conservation
District for their generous donation of tree seedlings and flower
bulbs. The tree seedlings and flower bulbs were distributed
to the Village of Ovid and will be planted throughout the community.
Current
Green Space Updates:
The
Green Space Commission has made several advancements in regards
to the Action Program in the Clinton County Park, Recreation and
Open Space Plan.
The
following chart summarizes accomplishments to date.

There is currently a water access site in the Village of Ovid
on Main Street.

Another site has been purchased in Duplain Township at the
St. Clair and French Road intersection. |

Identify, acquire and maintain a system of non-motorized trails
in the county. |

The Clinton-Ionia-Shiawassee (CIS) Rail Trail is currently
in development. When completed, this trail will be 41.3
miles in length.

Identify, acquire and maintain a natural resource based park.

- A 42 acre water based
park with a swimming area, picnic areas and recreation areas
is in development. |
| 4.
Encourage cooperation, coordination and funding of selected
park, recreation and open space resources among local jurisdictions
and governmental units. |

The Village of Ovid and the Green Space Committee have been
coordinating beautification efforts at the Village of Ovid
water access site.
A new four inch layer of gravel was
added to the access drive and new signage for the site is
in development.

Funding for the development of the 42 acre water based park
will be provided by the Michigan Natural Resource Trust Fund.

A donor is also providing funding for the CIS Rail Trail development.

Encourage cooperation, coordination
and funding of selected park, recreation and open space resources
with non-profit organizations.
