Recycling
is a series of activities by which materials that are no longer
useful to the generator are collected, sorted, processed, converted
into raw materials and used in the production of new products.
Recycling is important because it has the potential to greatly reduce
the amount of material disposed into landfills, while at the same
time conserve resources used in manufacturing processes.
When
residents, businesses and industries take the time to recycle, a
number of benefits are realized. Recycling:
- Creates jobs,
generates revenues and encourages capital investments – all of
which stimulates the economy,
- Decreases
pollution,
- Saves energy,
- Conserves
natural resources, and
- Reduces greenhouse
gas emissions.
Residents
