Emergency Services falls under the Sheriff's Department
and is staffed by a Coordinator who oversees the emergency and disaster
planning and response of 11 section representatives within Clinton
County. The Coordinator provides training programs to all 11 agencies,
and is responsible for the direction and control of all 11 agencies
in actual disaster situations. The 50% match in funding for this
program originates with the Federal Emergency Management Agency
and is administered by the Michigan State Police.
Continuing services and activities include severe weather safety
presentations to private and public organizations and in-service
training at schools and health care facilities. Participation on
the Capital Region Airport Authority Emergency Plan Advisory Committee
is a priority. Recent initiatives include maintaining emergency
support plans for Dewitt Township as required by section 19 of Public
Act 390, 1976, and coordinating the Clinton County Local Emergency
Planning Committee (LEPC).
