The Department of Community Development (Office of Planning and Zoning) is charged with the responsibility of implementing land-use and development policies for the unincorporated portions of Clinton County. The Department staffs the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals and participates with other committees (AOS, Green Space, etc.) involved in land-use planning and related activities. The Department is involved in economic development issues and staffs the Economic Development Corporation. The Department is also actively involved with County and Township Officials and citizenry in the development and implementation of sound land-use and economic development policy that will encourage business activity, industrial development and job formation within the County.

The Clinton County Comprehensive Development Plan was adopted during the fall of 2002. The 2005 Clinton County Zoning Ordinance was adopted on May 31, 2005.  The Clinton County Comprehensive Plan was recently updated and approved by the Clinton County Planning Commission on October 9, 2008 and adopted by the Clinton County Board of Commissioners on October 28, 2008.

The Clinton County Planning Commission meets the 2nd Thursday of every month (with exception of holidays) at 7:00 p.m. and the Clinton County Zoning Board of Appeals meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the County Board of Commissioners room, 2nd floor of the Clinton County Courthouse.

 

 

        Results from the January 26th, 2010 County Board of Commissioners meeting:

              PC-29-09 LA –( Language Amendment (On-Site Small-Scale)

  • The On-Site Small-Scale Wind Energy System language was recommended for consideration and adoption to the County Board of Commissioners for their review on January 26, 2010. The On-Site Small-Scale Wind Energy System language was reviewed by the County Board of Commissioners on January 26, 2010 and motion was tabled to concur with the recommendation of the Planning Commission and refer this matter back to the Planning Commission or staff for clarification as to whether the ordinance language addresses whether or not an individual is prohibited from selling power generated from these wind turbines.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    PC-29-09 LA – (Language Amendment (Utility-Scale)

  • The Utility-Scale Wind Energy System was tabled by the Planning Commission at the January 14, 2010 meeting for 30 days pending further review on February 11th

 

 

  • February 16, 2010 - The February 16th ZBA meeting has been canceled.  The next regularly scheduled ZBA meeting   will be held on Tuesday, March 16th at 7:00 p.m.
