Welcome to the Clinton County Sheriff's Office Neighborhood Watch web page.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Office has been involved with the Neighborhood Watch Program since 1993. A Neighborhood Watch is designed to keep people involved in their neighborhoods, thus becoming the "eyes and ears" of the community. The hope is that by being involved and aware of your neighborhood, you will know when something is wrong.

From this page you can access: The Neighborhood Watch Newsletter and Alerts that include information on current problems or crime prevention information. You can also be send an e-mail message to the Clinton County Neighborhood Watch (see email link in bottom right of this page).

   Hello Neighbors,

I am sure many of you are aware of the scams that are out there and that there are always new ones cropping up. I received an email from the Director of the FBI-Robert S Mueller III, saying that they had sued some of the foreign scammers and that they have $3,000,000.00 British pounds in an UK bank for me!!! Although this would be nice – it too is another scam. We have had numerous incidents of people being contacted by email and/or telephone, saying someone they know is either in jail somewhere or were the victims of robbery and need money. Just ignore the emails. If you receive the telephone calls, I would suggest just hanging up. If you are concerned just start asking questions that only you and the other person would know the answers to.

Yes, there are still the “Kirby vacuum” sales people going around the county. You do not have to let them in and if you have problems please call 911. They apparently make a lot of money and sales by going door to door so I am sure they will continue.

We are still having a few random break-ins. However, a group that had been active in this and surrounding areas has been arrested in the past month or so. They had been responsible for many in our County. Detectives are still working the investigation.

If you are gone for the winter or just taking a vacation, you can call our office and be put on our property checklist. Also, it is a good idea to have a neighbor check on your home and drive in and out of your driveway when there is fresh snow. Also, be careful of the information you put out on social networks, emails, and just discussions in public. Remember, robbers prefer an unoccupied home to break into.

All of you should check out the site:

www.do1thing.us. This site provides a lot of great information and help to be prepared for emergencies. “Being prepared doesn’t have to be hard or expensive. By doing one thing a month, you can make sure that you and the people you depend on will be prepared for whatever happens.”

Have a safe and Happy New Year!
