The Register of Deeds is responsible for maintaining the land records system – a critical economic infrastructure for Clinton County.  We index and maintain financing statements on personal property filed under the Uniform Commercial Code.   Our goal is to maximize access, accuracy and performance of our system to assure the efficient transaction of business in the county.

We provide other services to support the needs of residents including passport processing, notarial services, lien searches, typed UCC searches, record copying and mortgage reporting.

NOTICE BY COMPANIES TO PURCHASE PROPERTY RECORDS

Attention Homeowners of Clinton County

From time to time, we are notified by concerned residents that they are receiving Notices from various companies attempting to persuade homeowners to purchase copies of their property records/deeds at a significantly higher rate than if you were to purchase a copy directly from our office. Often times, these Notices upset our residents. Please be advised that these companies are in no way affiliated with Clinton County.  However, there is nothing illegal about what these companies are doing.

The Clinton County Register of Deeds records and protects property owner’s most important real estate records.  These records are safely kept on a permanent basis and are available for purchase at a $1.00 per page.

At any time you would like to obtain a copy of your real estate documents, please contact our office.  We are committed to providing our residents with great customer service and look forward to the opportunity to serve you.

HELP FOR STRUGGLING HOMEOWNERS

The Michigan Homeowner Assistance Nonprofit Housing Corporation (MHA) acting through Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) has received federal funds from the U.S. Department of Treasury to help Michigan take a step forward through a comprehensive, statewide strategy that is aimed to help homeowners who are at high risk of default or foreclosure.   Through A Step Forward: MHA designed programs to help homeowners who have had a financial hardship.
