About the Clinton County Parks and Green Space Commission

The Green Space Commission was created in December of 2000 by the Clinton County Board of Commissioners to serve as the PA 261 Parks and Recreation Commission for Clinton County.

Mission Statement:  Identify, acquire, develop and maintain a vibrant county park system that improves the quality of life in Clinton County.  The system will include non-motorized trails and natural resource based parks of countywide significance that complement existing public and private park, recreation and open space opportunities, anticipate future growth and development and help maintain the county's rural character.

The Green Space Commission facilitated the development of the Park, Recreation and Open Space Plan and currently implements the nine goals listed in the action program. On February 28, 2008, the Board of Commissioners adopted an updated, final plan for 2008-2012.

The Commission was renamed to:  Parks and Green Space Commission in 2010 to more accurately reflect of the scope of its activities.  The first County Park to be established is Motz County Park, which the County celebrated the grand opening on June 12, 2010.
