The Solid Waste Council is an advisory committee for the Department of Waste Management. This Council meets quarterly to discuss current events and ongoing programs. As outlined in the by-laws, the duties of the Solid Waste Council may include:
- Provides advice to the Waste Management Coordinator, the Department of Waste Management, and provides a forum for discussion of programs, services and enforcement issues pertaining to implementation of the Plan.
- Make recommendations to the County Commissioners on programming, grants, budgets and enforcement issues as they pertain to implementation of the Solid Waste Management Plan or County Solid Waste Ordinance.
- Conduct public hearings on issues pertaining to implementation of the Solid Waste Management Plan.
Negotiate and recommend to the County Commissioners agreements as may be necessary for the management of solid waste and implementation of the Solid Waste Management Plan.
