Complete Job Description

General Summary:

Under the direction of the Emergency Management Coordinator, develops, implements, exercises and maintains a current Emergency Operation Plan for the County.  In the event of a disaster or County-wide emergency, the Regional Planner assists the Emergency Management Coordinator who reports directly to, and provides advice to, the Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners.  Coordinates the disaster response of key officials to protect life and minimize property damage and/or loss.

Qualifications:

Education:  College level coursework in the physical sciences, prefer specific coursework/seminars in emergency management, education and communications.  Prefer coursework in communications and data processing. Certification by Michigan State Police Emergency Management Division as a Professional Emergency Manager (PEM)

Experience:  Experience in emergency services capacity providing familiarity with emergency response and dealing with governmental entities.  Prefer experience in an emergency management environment.

Salary:

$25.00 per hour
